Some ISP's provide a subscription to the newsgroups. Check with yours to see if this option is available. Newsgroups or Usenet groups are an invaluable source of information.

''Consumer Reports" is great, but not always free. If you are making a major purchase, an automobile for instance or large appliance. You might feel it is worth the price to buy a report. Or one month's online subscription. For the one month subscription fee you are allowed to view past reports online. They keep a history of five years online. Or if you have the time you can go to your local library and check out your item in their periodicals - Free!
